GAOBS

GAOBS-rugby school

Image
This school, renamed GAOBSud Minervois, was reorganised for intercommunal use, and is a symbol of success. Its greatest victory is that of friendship. LYDIE FAURE

Every week, rugby training takes place on Wednesday afternoons in two stadia :

• in Argeliers, from 16.00 - 17.00, for the minors (under 15's).

• in Bize-Minervois, from 14.00 - 16.00, for the first level (5-7 year olds), youngsters (under 9's), juniors and young people (under 13's)

LOCAL SCHOOL.

GAOBS (Ginestas, Argeliers, Ouveillan, Bize-Minervois, Sallèles d'Aude and, finally, since 2004, Cruzy)- what a story! It is not surprising that these champions would have so much value. I know the trainers - they are also valuable. They have done more than passing the ball, they have given so much. It is not surprising that this rugby school will soon celebrate its 20th anniversary: 20 years of stadia, of parties, of bumps, of breaks, of blows to the face, of good meals, of tournaments, of buses, of voluntary work, of passion, of friendship - and I am bound to have forgotten something. THE ASSOCIATION.

The trainers and directors of GAOBS rugby school organise the life of the club and the sporting encounters. The association office is made up of seven volunteers, whose motivation and determination deserves to be saluted.
PRESIDENT : Christian Arthozouls (from Ouveillan)
VICE-PRESIDENT : Laurent Bentegeac (from Cruzy)
SECRETARIES : Jo Calvet (from Ouveillan) & Roger Buada (from Argeliers)
TREASURERS : Yvan Faure (from Bize-Minervois), Cathy et Thierry Cuileyrier (from Argeliers)

ACTIVE MEMBERS : Michel Barthe, Jean-Jacques Dessert, Jean Edo, José Escarguel, Guy-Pierre Jalabert, Claude Bayle, Eliette Buada, Régis Thuries, Serge Bernadet, Daniel Blasquez, Luc Quenor, Dominique Vieu, Pascal Bounhoure, Mimi Calvet, Bruno Druetta.

135 children... there is no more beautiful family than the GAOBS children, the rugby school! The happy parents can be proud: entirely voluntarily, they have taken on the role of parents for 20 years.

The GAOBS champions.

Sébastien Buada, Cédric Rosalen, Joaquim Algisi et Sébastien Régy.
These guys have one thing in common - what is it? Let's not look in Bize, but in the area of the Community of Communes of the Canal du Midi in Minervois. Apart from the friendship, which unites them, there is the love of the oval ball. Today they play in the Top 14. For those who do not follow rugby, there are 14 teams at this national level in Elite 1, clubs at the top level. They are part of that. What a great adventure! These champions (like Mirepeisset before) go on or have gone on to RCNM. Sébastien Buada, from Argeliers, Cédric Rosalen from Ouveillan, Joaquim Algisi from Ginestas, Sébastien Régy from Sallèles, Sylvain Gonzalez, from Mirepeisset play at the top level (Top 14). They are celebrities to us: to think that the GAOBS, whose base is in Bize-Minervois, is the preliminary to RCNM! Don't be in any doubt that Sylvain and Guillaume will not be slow to follow in the steps of their predecessors.

At the end of every year, there is a day of friendly tournaments. A number of clubs are invited, from Aude, Hérault, Gard, Pyrénées Orientales... These matches bring together up to 450 children.

This year, 2008, the grand tournament organised by GAOBS will take place on April 27th 2008.

GAOB South-Minervois organises a delivery of jerseys or anoraks (the latter having taken place recently, in January 2008, in the village hall in Bize-Minervois), as well as many prizes for the tournaments. The club also organises trips at the end of the year: a day for the youngest and a weekend or more for the older ones. (Trip to Lloret del Mar in 2005, Corsica in 2006...)
