Louna Karyo's Beauty Treatment Studio offers a wide range of services at Bize-Minervois, comparable to those one might normally only find in a large town.

Chill-out room - with herbal teas, North African style spa with hammam, hydrotherapy and powerful multi-jet shower. A range of "relaxation and well-being" treatments : warm stones, chocolate with all its long-recognised beneficial properties, four handed "shaping" massage and also nail care.

Valerie Piras is a specialist in nail extensions. She uses a method that is first and foremost about nail care but also offers the option of creative extensions using "gel on tissue paper" for those who want to have long nails. It involves adding a protective layer onto the nail using products that contain no chemicals or paraben.

Mme Louna Karyo, a beautician in Bize-Minervois and President of the Association of Aude Beauticians recently organised in North Africa, through her federation, a seminar for 70 people, all professional beauticians. Mostly coming from Languedoc-Roussillon and the Alpes Maritimes, these charming ladies - and some gentlemen - had the opportunity themselves to enjoy all the care and attention that they usually lavish on their clients, both male and female.

Seminars of this type are planned and organised with the collaboration of micro-nutrition laboratories for well-being, balance and client advice covering diet and dietary supplements. The main purpose is to offer courses that build on professional competencies but they are also based on day-to-day quality of life in the best conditions possible. So it was destination Africa for a group of professionals who set off with a smile, determined to get the best from a trip that combined work and pleasure.

During their five day hotel stay (with free hydrotherapy) the participants were under the care of Tunisian beauticians, whilst they had the chance to explore all the facilities on offer at the establishment: hammam, "sea-water circuit" bath and other massages. They similarly met other local participants, doctors, gynaecologists and physios and had a choice of theoretical and practical training sessions. They chose those that suited them best, be it foot reflexology, lymph drainage therapy or holistic shaping (that is to say the treatment of body and spirit, which incidentally is one of Louna's specialities).

In 2007, the film actor Tcheky Karyo took part in a « concert for life » in Perpignan. This demonstration of solidarity took place at the Palais des Congrès to support the Mucovie 66 Association, whose President is Mr Stéphane Mathieu. The aim of Mucovie 66 is to raise funds for the fight against the commonest genetic illness in children, cystic fibrosis.

In Bize-Minervois, the beautician Louna, Tcheky Karyo's sister, makes her own contribution to this charitable movement by offering t-shirts and teddy-bears for sale in her fitness centre. Louna Karyo is Mucovie 66's ambassador in the Aude.
