Le Café du Midi

Le Café du Midi

resto_place_aux_herbesThe restaurant in the Place des Herbes has finally found a buyer and become the "Café du Midi". Nicolas Marsault, originally from the Poitiers area, and his wife Cécile, have carried out major renovation work to make the place as pleasant as possible. This project is the biggest they have ever undertaken. There are 44 covers in the main room, 14 on the patio, and 16 on the terrace, with a different atmosphere in each section - intimate and quiet, Provençale or cosy. The diners can choose whichever atmosphere suits them.
With long experience in this field, Nicolas Marsault will work in the kitchen, which offers French and traditional fare. He has worked at Fouquet's, been a chef on the Champs-Elysées at the Maison du Danemark, for example, and at the Café de la Paix. His ambition was always to open his own restaurant. It is almost achieved, as the official opening will be on Tuesday, June 21st.

The chef has many ideas to get the know the village and get integrated. Firstly, he has already set up a website to present himself on-line and to display the menu. Soon one will be able to reserve a table or leave comments. A menu for the summer called the "southern platter", which is a platter of a main course and several accompaniments, will be available when it opens.
Coming soon, one will see meals to take away and catering for parties, and also the renovation of the first floor room, which can be booked or used by clubs.
The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner 7 days per week during the summer, and out of season will be closed on Mondays.
It only remains to wish this new enterprise, which is full of promise, good luck and success.
Special thanks to our translator, Sue Ackloo.
